PROUD + PRIVILEGED TO HAVE WORKED WITH

Hey there!

My name is Dr. Chhase and I’m an athlete, coach and chiropractor at The Function Junction. It’s my desire to guide you through your recovery journey, or whether you’re looking to gain an edge on your competitors, I know I can help.

I’ve had my share of sports injuries over the years: sprains and strains, a broken arm & ankle, torn cartilage in my knee (twice) and a debilitating disk injury that ended my varsity (and likely professional) volleyball career. That last injury stung for quite a while and left me in a dark and gloomy place. I never understood why I kept getting hurt until I started noticing a pattern through my injuries and recoveries. Most of the time, I was getting my pain and symptoms managed, but we were not addressing the root causes. I quickly learned that I wanted others to have success their first-time around their recovery to reduce their risk of re-injury - that’s why I chose to become a chiropractor.

Once you’re an athlete, you're an athlete for life and you deserve top notch care to continue growing and developing as a human being. Better athletes lead to better humans, and better humans lead to better communities. I love helping athletes and their families of all skills and ages in their return to learn and sport without the use of medications, surgery or forever treatment. By using a combination of movement and hands-on therapy, I help you regain the confidence and trust in your body, so you can bend and not break. Ready to fire it up?

I had the privilege as student-athlete to learn, travel, and compete across our beautiful country and meet some amazing people in the process. I gained an appreciation for research by completing an honours thesis for my BSc in Kinesiology prior to being accepted to Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. During my four years at chiropractic college, I chose to shadow some of the brightest minds and take as many seminars as I could afford because I knew these experiences would allow me tailor my approach to the elite athlete. Being a chiropractor, a coach and an athlete allows me to look through a variety of lenses to identify and address gaps in performance in the clinic and in training.

Over the last five years, I’ve been grateful to have athletes trust me with their bodies while competing in the CCAA, NCAA, U-Sport, on the FIVB World + AVP Tour, countless national teams, the CFL, and Bobsleigh Canada. What has been eye opening and motivating to me is that both the mind and body are relentless demanded on to push their limits daily. This drives me to keep levelling-up my manual therapy game to match their passion and optimize their care help them along their road to greatness.
